With the rapid growth of data service, competition being progressively introduced in the market and the emergence of new technology, the network architecture is also evolving. With the gradual maturity of new technology and the specification of user needs, There appeared a number of new value-added services such as MPLS VPN, video on demand (controllable multicast), QOS, etc. For IP-based MAN, there are three outstanding problems in the early pure Ethernet network: the existence of bottlenecks in processing capacity; No management, no authentication and weak in operation; difficulties in achieving the new value-added services, especially the service of MPLS VPN. This thesis is presented under the background that China Telecom has been transforming into a comprehensive information service provider. With the push of user needs and market competition, China Telecom' s MAN is optimizing. However, how the optimized MAN becomes the rapid developed L2 interworking to adapt the rapidly increasing requirement of informatization is a significant study confronted China Telecom.This thesis will study the peer-to-peer implementation of broadband L2 interworking service based on carrier-grade Ethernet technology after the optimization of MAN. Its key technologies are VPLS technology, PBB technology. The main purpose of VPLS is to connect several LAN segments of Ethernet via PSN, which makes them work like on one LAN. PBB introduced the new generation of carrier-grade Ethernet package which brought about the "revolutionary" feature in infrastructure.This thesis makes three experiments in nowadays network based on L2 leased line of carrier-grade Ethernet: the experiment of L2 interworking leased line in the same city achieved by pure carrier-grade Ethernet, the experiment of butt joint with CN2 VPN and the experiment of using PBB as the basic data to extend the joint. Pilot users opened Ethernet point-to-point lines between Yecheng and Jinsheng,. Yecheng and Jinsheng is the two regions of China Telecom at Pudong District and Jiading District in Shanghai .For carrier-grade Ethernet leased line which provides the users with interconnection network service of high reliability and high security, in order to achieve the goal of providing SLA to users and achieve carrier-grade business operation and service, there must be corresponding supporting mechanism in operation. This paper will discuss this mechanism in two dimensions, which is the division of operation and maintenance interface and supporting system in operation.In this paper, there will be 5 chapters to discuss the principles, solutions, technology and implementation of the reformation.Chapter I IntroductionIllustrate the research background, purpose and significance of this thesis.Chapter II Principle of carrier-grade Ethernet technologyIllustrate principles of VPLS, PBB/PBT technology. Chapter III Implementation of broadband L2 interworking service based on carrier-grade Ethernet technology.Chapter IV Experiment on carrier-grade Ethernet leased line in nowadays networkChapter V Operation and Maintenance of carrier-grade Ethernet leased lineCharacteristics and purpose of this thesis : Based on the study of carrier-grade Ethernet in 2006, this thesis studies two kinds of Metro Ethernet Broadband VPN, that is VPLS-based and IEEE802.1ah-based L2 Ethernet VPN. It covers the operation and maintenance management system of L2 Internet Business after the optimization of MAN. In view of the low cost-effective performance of in DSL access L2 interworking service, this thesis will focus on the ways to achieve L2 interworking service by means of LAN access.The issue is a research project carried out by the Shanghai Research Institute of China Telecom at IP Metropolitan Area Network in the key technology to optimize the transformation. I am be Introduced by Engineer Zhang Jiexin and involved in the study at recommendation of carrier-class Ethernet-based two-city line Internet program.
