With the continuous improvement of housing needs, detail information of the houses is increasingly becoming the factors which are taken into consideration in buying houses. The information to the house purchasers is usually provided by the realtors. However, the realtors usually beautify the surroundings of the houses. As a result, it is difficult for the house purchasers to get the true information. In view of this, a system for inquiring information of real estate based on Google Earth is designed and implemented. The main works finished are listed as follows:1) At first, the author analyzed the problems that house purchasers may meet in purchasing houses. A real estate system is designed, which applies Google Earth and ArcEngine for inquiring information.2) Secondly, analyzed all types of data which are used in this system, and explored the methods of converting other data to KML file (including texture data and Shapefiles) taking KML as the basic data format.3) A real estate information inquiry system that integrates several systems was designed. Google Earth is embedded in as the background data through Google Earth API. The 3D models out of the buildings are built using SketchUp, and they can be viewed on Google Earth. The indoor 3D models are established using 3Ds Max, and show the models through a virtual reality viewer. Surveying of distance and area and buffer analysis are realized via ArcEngine. House sell information can be achieved by inquiring the information of buildings that is stored in Access database.4) A real estate information inquiry system that integrates Google Earth and ArcEngine is implemented using VC++6.0 as the development platform. The main functions are listed as follows: viewing the external and internal 3Ds models of buildings; house style information inquiring; service facilities inquiring; house sale information inquiring; buffer analysis, etc. Finally, the functions of the system are tested taking Shanyulinju Area as an example.
