Synchronization And Channel Estimation Algorithm In Bursted OFDM System And Its Implementation On FPGA

OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is a kind of multiple carriers modulation technology. It is a very promising technology since it has many advantages, such as its high-efficient spectrum and ICI interference avoidance. It can also easily connect with MIMO and access technologies. Because different subcarriers can adopt different coding and modulation methods, the capacity of the channel is able to reach the optimum value. Therefore, OFDM is suitable for high-speed mobile communication systems.Firstly, the paper narrates the history and current situation of mobile communication and OFDM technology. Then the paper discusses the basic principle of OFDM including OFDM's orthogonality, the use of FFT and the cyclic prefix. The advantages, the disadvantages and key technologies of the OFDM system are presented.Then the paper discusses characters of the wireless channel. In the following chapters, the paper separately discuses two key technologies of OFDM system based on burst packet transmission including synchronization and channel estimation, and analyzes the algorithm which used to solve the problems. In the end, the paper discusses the design of system and the implement scheme of synchronization and channel estimation.In the design of OFDM system part, the paper presents rules to choose the appropriate device, and characteristic of chips. The parameters and the frame of OFDM system are designed according to application system requirements. Synchronization and channel estimation modules are designed and anlasized using Quartus II, which can be monitored by embedded logic analysis tool. Thus, the hardward test results are yielded, and the subsequent conclusions are drawn.The paper discusses the synchronization and channel estimation of bursted OFDM system in detail, and introduces problems that may be encountered when implementing the system.
