With the development of Internet, the number of device in current network is increased fastly. The resource of IPv4 address becomes much fewer, and cannot keep the step of the Internet development. The research and application about IPv6 technology become more important. At the some time, with the development of streaming media technology, the streaming media applications in Internet are satisfied by many video-on-demand system's users in network. The number of these application's user increases fastly. The support for transmission streaming media in IPv4 network is not very strong, and the IPv6 as the main protocol in next generation network provides much better quality of service in transmission streaming media, IPv6 protocol can guarantee transmission for streaming media. Therefore, research on video-on-demand system in IPv6 network and optimization the mechanism of resource scheduler has active scientific and theoretic significance and practical value of social application.After analyzing current IPv4 and IPv6 protocol, find the advantage the disadvantage in these two protocols. Combining with the streaming media technology, find out a better protocol for transmission streaming media. After analyzing current resource reservation protocol, combining with the current Interent's situation, bring forwords a new resource reservation protocol which can better adapt to video-on-demand system in peer-to-peer network. This new resource reservation protocol mechanism follows the principle of the resource reservation protocol, applys itself in the application layer in Open System Interconnection model and it is better for development of application. This mechanism is propitious to bring up the performance in video-on-demand system.Apply IPv6 and new resource reservation protocol mechanism into video-on-demand sytem in peer-to-peer network. Based on the previous video-on-demand system, this theise builds a new resource reservation protocol mechanism and applies it in IPv6 network to optimize previous video-on-demand system.
