P2P streaming media is defined as the product of the combination of the P2P technology and streaming media service. Compared with the traditional client / server mode, the technology takes full advantage of cache resources of the personal computers(peers). The all peers play the role of the servers at the same time, which decentralizes the services, reduce the load of the streaming media servers and the high requirements and high consumption of local network bandwidth. P2P streaming media have the widespread application prospects and commercial value.Streaming media service has some strict requirements, such as low latency and small jitter. In addition, it has to provide reliability and robustness for video on-demand, live broadcast, multicast and other applications. P2P streaming media has some obvious characteristics:â‘ The network has a large number of nodes and it belongs to the kind of dynamic ad hoc networks;â‘¡Network topology is dynamic change and the peers are easier to fail;â‘¢The capabilities of the peers are relative difference. The above characteristics of P2P networks easily make streaming media services unreliable, uncontrollable, untrust. These deficiencies make the transmission performance of P2P streaming media face greater challenges. In this paper, the network transmission key issues of P2P streaming media are studied from two aspects of video on-demand and multicast. The contribution of this research lies in:1. Firstly, P2P and streaming media technologies are briefly analyzed. P2P streaming media application and research status are inducted and concluded. The key issues and technologies on P2P streaming media are proposed.2. P2P streaming media on-demand transmission scheme based on network coding is proposed in this part. Firstly, after P2P streaming media on-demand transmission problems are analyzed, a novel network coding scheme in P2P streaming media on-demand is presented. Then the network coding scheme is used to resolve node failure problem, and the sliding window is used to achieve sequence receiving. In addition, the optimizing node selection strategy is also presented. The above strategies make a useful improvement in reducing the P2P streaming media transmission delay, packet loss rate and reducing server load.3. A P2P-based application layer multicast scheme is proposed by analyzing the existing application layer multicast scheme. The scheme consists of the modules, such as multicast tree establishment, maintenance, management and so on. The application layer multicast tree scheme is designed and implemented based on Kamulia protocol. The scheme is simulated on the platform of the PeerSim. The simulation experiments show that the scheme could be effectively reduce the network transmission delay, packet loss rate and have better robustness.4. Firstly, the problem of wasted bandwidth is analyzed. Then P2P networks traffic prediction model based on wavelet neural is proposed. By using the wavelet analysis the local secondary and slow convergence problems of the neural network is improved. The proposed algorithm is implemented in Matlab6.5 and the simulation results show that the model can predict network traffic accurately. Finally, traffic optimization schemes of the P2P streaming media is analyzed using the prediction model.5. Design and realization of P2P-based IPTV network transmission system using the schemes proposed above. The network transmission system is comprised of some basic functions, such as video on-demand, live broadcast, multicast and so on.
