With the development of Internet, the users' expectation and requirements on the network have gradually increased. Tthe static media alone can no longer meet their needs. Therefore, the focus of the internet development has been shifted to media demonstration which features the combination of sound, text, images, video and other multimedia;Nowadays, streaming media over the Internet has been booming. However, the distributive large-scale data featuring streaming media can easily lead to performance bottlenecks of streaming media server and the waste of network resources under the traditional C/S (Client-Server) model framework. In such circumstances, CDN (The Content Delivery Network) technique, IP multicast technique and some other solutions are all difficult to be deployed and be universally applied for the expensive cost of hardware and these own inherent limitations. When P2P (Peer-to-Peer) technology has been applied to the Internet, P2P model is considered as ideal model to solve performance bottlenecks of streaming server. The streaming media services based on P2P model has attracted more attention from multitudinous researchers. Moving the data distribution center from streaming server to the user's network has greatly promoted the development of the network video. After analyzing the characteristics of P2P network, directing at the basic streaming media applications on demand and live broadcast services, this paper designs and implements a P2P-based transmission and distribution resources of streaming media application system, to put forward a solution to application layer Multicast and VOD service based on P2P technology, to build a superpeer and peer two-layer streaming media system which is simple but with high efficiency. Based on multi-threaded tasks assignment (conversation) mechanism of infrastructure and to reformat the classic streaming media files, this system integrates the merits of P2P technology and C/S technology in an effort to achieve a layered scalable streaming media system. This paper presents the overall architecture of the system, introduces the system's function modules and these design, and analyzes the critical technologies in detail, such as resources management mechanism, buffering management mechanism, the distribution of resources management mechanism, resources transmission. This application system of streaming media effectively alleviates the pressure on streaming media server and backbone, and provides a solution based on the data in peers with fast exchange rate. At present, the system is under a large-scale test in the campus network environment, delivering the results meeting the basic design requirements.
