Since 21st century, Chinese vehicle manufacturing industry got rapid development and numerous sea shipping businesses promote the forming of professional Ro/Ro terminal. As the first professional Ro/Ro terminal in China, Shanghai Haitong International Automotive Terminal Co., Ltd was established in Dec, 2003. With the operation and business volume increasing, Haitong Co., Ltd urgently needs a set of production information system to support the operation and customers and suppliers services. This article gives a design and study of production information system for Haitong, because there is no foreign information system which is suitable for Chinese Logistics status. In this article, PEST is used to make feasibility study. Comparison analysis is used to study the information carrier and collection method. Information pre-input, self-made barcode and other methods are ways to solve this problem. The key is to optimize the original procedure to satisfy the design requirement of information system. By using simulation design in yard management module, the visionary requirements are reached. Meanwhile, expectation for putting RFID into the future system has been made. This information system can not only provide terminal operation support, connection among suppliers to improve supply chain's transparency, but also meet the requirements of vehicle manufacturers and shipping companies more accurately and rapidly.
