Radio frequency identification (RFID) finds more and more applications as a potential substitute for the barcode identification. It is clear now that as identification techniques both the barcode and RFID will coexist in quite a long time in the future. Combining RFID Tag with barcode can meet the need for using them both for the coming period. For the two-dimensional barcode label, we may have RFID tag and two-dimensional barcode combined by overlaying or printing RFID tag antenna with conductive ink on two-dimensional barcode. The appearance of fragment-type RFID tag and2-D barcode is kind of similar, which makes it quite reasonable to get a fragment-type UHF RFID tag designed and embedded into a2-D barcode label. For this design, RFID tag has an antenna composed of fragments which should coincide with modules of two-dimensional barcode. The research work introduced in this paper is as follows,This paper first introduces the theoretical foundation of embedding an RFID tag into the QR Code. The theoretical foundation of design mainly includes the operating theory of the RFID tag, the characteristics of fragments-type antenna and the tiny loop antenna, the optimization algorithm theory of MOEA/D-GO and the encoding principle of QR Code.In the next part of our work, fragment-type UHF RFID tag is embedded in a two-dimensional QR barcode label by using MOEA/D-GO algorithm searching. UHF RFID tag is designed and embedded in two-dimensional QR barcode by metalizing and connecting selected modules of two-dimensional barcode. After simulation, the prototype RFID tag embedded in the barcode is fabricated by etching the layout on single-sided PCB and then tested by using Alien ALR-9900RFID reader system. Then in the third part, considering cost control and the antenna pattern, several designs of embedding fragment-type UHF RFID tag in a QR Code label of which the dark module is partly applied conductive material, which means conductive ink. That means only the dark modules selected by MOEA/D-GO is applied conductive material. Also, part of the module is transformed to meet the needs of the antenna circuit in a certain extent. In this part of the research work, we also study the ways to control the antenna pattern. The last part of the research work is the typical application oriented design. Considering that under actual practice, the2-D barcode label is printed on paper by inkjet. The material of the2-D barcode label is set to be conductive ink. The lay-out of the result in the second part of the research work is used and scaled in order to find out the influence on the performance parameters of the tag antenna. Also, we design for the2-D barcode on the student ID card and design of RFID tag embedded in QR Code of various data information.
