The development of computer technology, communication technology and network technology promotes rapid penetration of information technology to national economy and social life in all aspects. Embedded computer technology has also been considerably developed in IT applications. But"software crisis"that software development lags behind hardware development in the field of embedded system is severe, too. Therefore, the new requirement of embedded software development is put forward: We can achieve a specific application by using different embedded middlewares to shortening development cycle and realizing high reusability, scalability and maintainability, which will shield different details and supply uniform APIs.With this backdrop, this paper takes an all-sided research on embedded middleware technology and implements an application of embedded middleware in embedded image processing system.First, making a summary of embedded image processing system, analyzing the features of hardware platform and operating system, studying the knowledges of digital image processing and graphic user interface, realizing the transplant of embedded Linux on the development board. Second, according to the new demands of embedded software development, discussing embedded middleware technology, analyzing several typical modes of embedded middleware development technology, an embedded middleware oriented to embedded image processing system is designed and implemented. It makes embedded image processing system portable. Embedded image processing system can be run on a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems with the relative stable structure. At the same time, it improves scalability and versatility of embedded image processing system, so that embedded image processing system can be used in different image processing occasions through simple adjustments and extensions. Third, studying the structure technology of embedded GUI system by analyzing the needs of embedded image processing system, presenting a design of embedded GUI system based on a single-window model, describing the detail designs of each module, and implementing it by C language. It can well meet the needs of GUI applications in embedded image processing system. Finally, using embedded image processing middleware and single-window embedded GUI system, combined with the subject of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology—"Embedded Image Processing System Development", an embedded image processing system used in medicine field is implemented to test their performances in practical applications.
