The digital TV (DTV) is the third generation of products following black-and-white TV and color TV, it is a result which collects the integrated application of high technology, such as digital technology, micro-electronics technique, network technology, software technology, etc. Middleware technology is one of the key technology in the software technology and can make numerous software providers develop digital TV interactive applications in case of not considering the hardware environment.With the background of the work in our project "DTV-oriented embedded software platform" which belongs to National 863 High Tech Program (863 Program), this thesis mainly focuses on the research of the embedded middleware technology and the main goal is to set up the high-efficient and reliable software platform for applications of the digital TV, accelerate its popularization.Through comparing existing standards in the world at present, this thesis chooses European DTV standard DVB-MHP and proposes an embedded middleware model based on it which according with current situation of our country.The Java Platform is the core of the model. Through analysing the composition of Java platform and embedded Java virtual machine-Kaffe's principle and system structure, this thesis proposes a scheme that porting the Kaffe AWT to Qt/E graphic library and realized on embedded Linux.This thesis also analyses the structure and function of the JavaTV, and realized the service selection APIs and video playing APIs on our designed model.There is important reference value to the formulation and popularization of our country's DTV middleware standard in the research of this thesis.
