The computer plays a key role in modern aerospace applications. But the aerospace computer is working in the space environment, so the irradiation-tolerance and reliability are great respects. Because the countries advanced in aerospace research put some restrictions on the export of aerospace-grade or high-performance devices, China is constrained in developing aerospace computers. Researching and developing of China-made high-performance aerospace CPU can not only meet the growing demand of aerospace missions, but also have some great significance.Based on top-down design, processor'Godson'achieves outstanding characteristics with full independent intellectual property of China. With the contribution and support of General Armament Department and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Godson was modified and upgraded in both of system architecture and silicon structure by CAS-ICT(Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science), which gives birth to the rad-hard'Godson'CPU: RH_GS1_SOC.In this project I designed an SBC (Single Board Computer) and a CompactPCI based prototype computer for RH_GS1_SOC, performing a simulation experiment of tolerance of irradiation and an experiment of temperature stability. This article has put a review of the developing on aerospace CPU domestic and abroad, and then following the full description of the SBC, the prototype computer, and the detail of all experiences. At last, the evaluation of RH_GS1_SOC in aerospace applications is given.The Innovation of this subject is:1. The SBC is performing a self-test based on RH-GS1-SOC plus peripheral ICs. This solution has improved the stability of the system, simplified the design, improved the integration, and reached the same goal as the traditional ones which used extra MCUs or devices to monitor the test.2. The prototype computer is based on CompactPCI with the excellent mechanical features, high data transmission rate, and good extensibility. An HPI bus is added to the CompactPCI interface, so the low data rate device can be integrated into the prototype computer without CompactPCI controller.3. In this project, the experiment of irradiation tolerance of the rad-hard'Godson'CPU for the first time. A platform of experiment of irradiation tolerance is established for the coming rad-hard'Godson'CPUs.In this project, the VxWorks RTOS is transplanted to RH-GS1-SOC for the first time. The BSP could be a template of VxWorks transplantation of other versions of radiation hardened Godson processor.
