In the process of education informationization, networked educational resources are the prerequisite and foundation to carry out networked education. The core issue of achieving networked educational resources interoperability is to resolve the heterogeneous database interoperability.Due to historical and technical aspects, heterogeneous databases have come into being. As heated and difficult issues in the field of database research, interoperability issues of heterogeneous database has aroused wide concern in the academic and the industrial world at home and abroad. Since the 1980s, many foreign companies and research institutes have been making a large amount of research into heterogeneous databases, and have made many achievements. Domestic research is still at the fledgling stage, most of which focuses on the database interoperability under specific engineering environment.Research into database interoperability issues can take full advantage of the previous investment and resolve the present resources sharing, in order to adapt to the present situation. That has theoretical value and application prospects. Based on affecting their local autonomy as little as possible, geographically distributive multiple heterogeneous databases will make diaphanous overall database needed by users to support multiple databases' applications and flexible exchanging and sharing of information between the heterogeneous databases, which is the targets of heterogeneous databases research.Microsoft. NET (Microsoft XML Web Service platform) is the developing plan of next generation software based on internet-based platform, which is developed by Microsoft Company. It provides a new programming model. Including ADO.NET, the platform based on XML and the Internet standard protocols has powerful data processing capabilities. Microsoft. NET is platform-independent and language independence whose important feature is that it has a common language based on XML and it can be Compatible with a variety of equipment and platforms. XML is an industrial standard format to store and transmit data, generally running through .NET platform. It is simple, extendibility, interoperability and openness. It is widely used in the software development industry, e-business, and e-commerce field. Most dedicated database stores data with binary format. Other systems cannot access these data, nor can they access through an Internet firewall. In addition, the main feature of XML is data independent, all the data stored in it are text and using marks to indicate. It is beneficial to network transmission. XML model provides a strong function of the typical data identifying. It can properly handle various data types. The combination of XML and .NET laid the foundation for the interoperability of heterogeneous databases.Based on referring to a large amount of literature and serious study, I established a database interoperability framework middleware based on .NET platform and XML technology, made an example to demonstrate its feasibility. Through this middleware, the SQL Server database can convert to XML documents, and according to the specific needs, the XML documents can also convert into other relational database, achieving a variety of relational data conversion and sharing between heterogeneous databases.
