The wireless sensor network (WSN) is widely applied in many areas. It could be used generally in the military application, environmental monitoring, weather forecast, healthcare, intelligent house, building condition monitoring, complicated machine monitoring, urban traffic, space searching, and the airport, large scale industrial park security monitoring, etc.Event monitoring in large-scale environment is a major kind of application for WSN. The WSN's feature determined it's design and specific application is connected tightly. Based on the WSN's scale and usage, reliable message transport is an important problem we should focus on. The routing agreement must achieve the balance between the timeliness, dependability, data redundancy, robustness, cost, attendance and etc.In this thesis, a reliable transport oriented large-scale event driven routing protocol for WSN, ERTP, is proposed for fire alarming in forest. In ERTP, the reliability of message transporting is guaranteed while the data redundancy, communication latency, and system lifecycle are optimized. Through cluster-based architecture, cluster heads implement the management on cluster members, data fusing, and message transportation. Failure of message transportation is resolved through multipath from different layers. The end-to-end retransport problem is resolved through the hop-by-hop packet recovery mechanisms. Based on OPNET simulation platform, our experimental results show that ERTP perform better on data transport reliability than other routing protocols for WSN.
