Research On Routing For Event-driven Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless sensor network (WSN), which consists of a number of smart sensors deployed in the monitoring area, is a multi-hop and self-organizing network system by radio communications. It is the combination of sensor, computer and network technology. WSN can be used in the fields of military war,environmental monitoring,medical treatment, intelligent home and traffic management, etc.Due to its wide application, WSN is attracting more and more researcher's interest and becoming one of hottest research areas.Network layer routing protocol is one of key protocols of WSN which has great influence on the performormance of WSN. The main mission of this thesis is to research a routing protocol of WSN and propose a new routing protocol for event-based wireless sensor network. The main innovations are as follows:The first, this thesis introduces the basic conception,the structure,the charactors, the communicatoin protocol stack of WSN as well as some applictions. The role and designing goals of routing protocol in WSN are analyzed in this article. Through the classification of routing protocols, this article analyzes and compares the routing protocol in WSN and concludes the advanages and the disadvantages of these protocols. As the research goes on, considering the problems of designing a netwrok layer routing protocol comprehensively, a event-based and data aggregation routing protocol is proposed.The second, according to the model of event-based wireless sensor network expatiated on, this article introduces the event-based and data aggregatin routing protocol deliberately. It analyzes the address allocation algorithm: During the booting up phase, each node gets their minimum hop-count and is allocated its local address. When the node detect its interesting event,it can build the communication with sink node by the hop-count,and gets its communication address. Then during the period of designing data aggregation routing algorithm for event-based WSN, this article discusses the idea of algorithm, the chooseing of candidate root nodes and the building of aggregation tree.Thirdly, the routing protocol of event-based wireless sensor network has been sumulated on the simulator. Then this paper introduces the principle and the implementing system of the simulator briefly. This analysis and comparison with the other protocols in every aspect validate that the method reduces the overheads of the communication and meets the constraints of low energy consumption and limited processing power in wireless sensor network.
