Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a kind of wireless network that is formed by collecting many sensor nodes disposed in a special area, and these nodes are organized together efficiently, stably and exactly by special agreements so as to accomplish a task. WSN is used to perform some works, such as monitoring various environments in real-time and implementing the collection of data automatically in large scale, with too traits of fast establishment and expedient disposition. As a new technology for accessing and conducting information, WSN has a wide application future.Military Warehouse is an important base for storing, providing and taking care of equipments and materials in army. The surrounding for storage refers to the military operations, so we should protect the base against moist, fire and steal. It is more important to research the related environment monitoring system.Concerning the real requirement of environment monitoring in Military Warehouse, this thesis puts forward a monitoring proposal based on WSN and does plenty of researches to key technology, system framework and function implement of each part. Firstly, the typical application of wireless sensor networks in environmental monitoring field is researched, and three famous projects for environmental monitoring by using WSN are analyzed, and finally the possibility of building Environmental Monitoring System in Military Warehouse is inspected and verified by analyzing the different environments and detecting requirements in Military Warehouse.Secondly, by doing several researches, the application area for detecting system is confirmed, the detecting characteristics of Military Warehouse is summed up, the function and component of the system are defined, the hardware and software facilities used in Military Warehouse nowadays are inspected, and finally the requirement analysis of Warehouse Environmental Monitoring System is done.Thirdly, based on requirement analysis, a system frame is built which is divided into several modules, sensor nodes are precisely chosen, a proposal for node location and routing algorithms is put forward, and finally network protocol stack and relational database are designed.Finally, the environment monitoring system is implemented which includes programs for sensor node, visual monitoring platform and relational database. Simulative tests for the system are done; furthermore, field tests by using a few nodes and temperature sensor and moisture sensor show that the system could implement monitor and collection of data in real time, and provide alarm effectively in severe environment.
