Since the 1930s, the automation technology has made an astonishing achievement, that already play an important role in the industry and the national economy. The automation technology has become the measure of the modernization in all aspects. For process control, it's an important part of automation technology. In the modern industrial production process, the process control technology that is optimal for the realization of technical and economic indicators, to enhance economic efficiency and labor productivity, improveing working conditions, protect the ecological environment make more and more important role.The water level control system is used as a research plant, which is based on the Active Disturbance Rejection Controller (ADRC). First of all, some research work was done on Matlab platform. Second, after getting an ideal system output in the simulation, the Java Eclipse platform for actual water level control is built. The experiment proves that ADRC has the better performance of anti-disturb and a broader scope of application.This thesis first studied the ADRC theoretical fundamentals, which is then applied to explain how the non-linear factors can deal with the disadvantages of the linear control, to give the function description and parameters of the non-linear correction and extended state observer (ESO).After the establishment of mathematical model of ADRC for water level control system, we carried out the Matlab simulation for the controller, and compare the control effect of ADRC with PID, from which the setting rule for parameters of the active disturbance rejection algorithm summed up. The next step is to make an actual control system for test, transform the sampling result into real-time curve, analysis of ADRC control effect in the actual system. The hardware platform of the test system is PCT-II and computer. The software platform is a java environment in the Eclipse platform. The experiments show that in both single and dual-tank water level control system, ADRC has better robustness and has better adaptability.Base on ADRC research work in theory and application, we have fully illustrated that ADRC has innovative design and feasibility of application. Therefore, in both aspects of engineering and theory, ADRC are worthy to be further investigated.
