An Applied Research For Cold Press Drawing Mold CAD/CAE Based On Actual Example

Present-day society, the mold industry in the national economy has been becoming one of the important foundation industry, China's cold press mold design and analysis mainly is relied on the designer's experience and the staff's technology skills. Because Only after mold test has been done can we determine whether the design is national or the product is defect, which causes long mold's manufacture cycle and the high cost. But the level of design and product's quality of the cold press molds can be greatly improved by the use of computer aided design and analysis (CAD/CAE) integration technology.This paper introduced the present situation of the domestic and foreign press industry, the trend of development and the CAD/CAE/CAM technology. On this basis, this paper used the AutoForm and UG software as the development platform to carry on the analysis and design for most cold press mold integrating with Chinese mold situation. So that the computer technology could provide an academic reference combined with mold design techniques for pressing products analysis and design.First, the paper elaborated on the principle of cold press mold design and the role and function of AutoForm software, UG software. Then it analysed the press die on formability analysis by AutoForm software , which was important process basis to fender's structure design. At last it designed the fender's mold by the UG mold design software. Through the CAD/CAE technology resulted to realize the fender mold's fast design,reduce mold's development cycle and enhance the enterprise in the market competitive power.
