The technology of knowledge-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been applied into the field of analyzing injection molding process and the one of injection mold computer-aided engineering (CAE) concerned. From the base of this an injection products' defects analysis expert system (IPDAES) has been developed in this dissertation. It can help the engineers of injection mold to analyze the usual defects of injection products, find causes and give reasonable measures to resolve them. An especial mode has been adopted to realize this system, which is different from the conventional mode of realizing expert system. It includes the two aspects: one is using modern database technology to organizing the repository of IPDAES and other aiding databases in order to realize sharing data; the other is using advanced programming language with the character of object-oriented to realize the inference engine of IPDAES, which absorbs the heuristic merits of Windows' helping systems to make the reasoning process easily understood by the means of including the explaining module into the inference engine. Based on the character of knowledge in analyzing injection products' defects, a rule-based standout mode has been adopted to express the knowledge of the repository. The system also offers users a good operational platform to managing system databases including the repository and other aided databases. The confirmation theory which is one of the uncertain inferring model has been adopted to construct the inference engine, for the special knowledge in the field is uncertain and fuzzy. At the same time the knowledge on fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic has been applied to calculate the final value about certainty factor value (CFV) of a rule through inputting several initial values.IPDAES has been tested by several examples, which leads to the result coinciding reasonably with the actual condition. It has proved that this system has a good effect on aiding the design of injection mold or the adjustment of injection process.Furthermore, the relation between this system and injection mold CAE concerned has been actively studied. It has concluded that IPDAES can help to evaluate the unreasonable result of simulation by CAE and point out the direction of rectification.
