The difference compared to normal multi-varieties and small-batch production pattern is that, most mold products are distinctive and unique. The requirements from customers are inevitably different, which makes the design and manufacture process become the development of new products every time. The product orders come randomly, which makes the enterprise unable to forecast the total amount correctly and precisely. Add to that design and manufacture process quite depends on the workers’ experience, consequently, the production is hard to be controlled even the delivery time is always delayed. Confronted with these problems, traditional management cannot meet the actual needs. In order to solve the problems mentioned above and enhance the level of management, it is necessary for die & mold companies to apply the Management Information System.The quality of mold design has a direct influence on the following mold manufacture process. Good design can cut down the cost and difficulties in production manufacturing. As a result, the mold design process plays an important role in the whole life cycle of mold production. By analyzing typical enterprise organization structure and management mode, this paper mainly focused on the normal business process of mold manufacture and design. Then main contents about mold design process management were concluded. Through requirements analysis about mold design process management system, based on the thorough analysis of mold design process, the management system were designed and analyzed in several different modules. At last, some critical techniques, like documents management/performance measurement were brought up. With document management, the methods of source control/document classification/document storage and version controlling were mainly discussed. With performance evaluation, in this paper, designers are measured synthetically by five factors:work technique/work attitude/design quality/ work efficiency and other factor.Based on the analysis above, one mold enterprise in Guangdong as the background, the mold design process management system was developed on the.NET Framework.Detailed implementation plan was made and the implementation effects were evaluated scientifically. Finally the information system was applied in the company and quite good profits were brought.
