In this paper, I will proceed from the perspectives of Communication and Public relations, analyzing specific cases, combining of the characteristics of new media, to explore the negative effects of the new media in the government crisis communication.Fostering a sense of crisis, being fully aware of the negative effects of new media, the government can take advantage of the strong points of the new media to service the crisis communication. New Media has a relatively high degree of expression freedom and tolerance, so the Government has to do a good job in media monitoring to gain the initiatives. At the same time, the new media is more timely, extensive and influential in the communication, so they can be used to do crisis warning. As a combination of interpersonal and mass communication, the government can use it to collect public opinions and appease the public mood. Also, the Government can set agenda as well as lead public opinion through shaping opinion leaders in the new media. In addition, the government should pay more attention to maintain a good relationship with some major website media in order to lay a good foundation for preventing and dealing with the crisis.
