Semiconductor manufacture is a processing with high complex flow and high capital investment,compare with other products,the particularity of semiconductor production are shown at the various process and the system's complex dynamic behavior,which include many indeterminate variation factors and very difficult to do the analysis by normal resolution methods.So,computer simulation is seemed very important under such situations.Computer simulation is a good tool to analysis complex systems and resolves the problems in scientific research,management and engineering.The basic idea of computer simulation is build one computer model to imitate the dynamic behavior of actual system(design scenario),and use the model to do the experiments for such behavior changes in actual system.After repeat and repeat experiments and result data analysis,we can get completed evaluations for dynamic behavior base on given conditions then to do the system improvement or optimization.This paper introduce and analyze the discrete computer simulation firstly,then elaborate the common steps and methods for system simulation modeling.After that,we analyze the problems in semiconductor back end manufacture which also said as assembly and testing,then discuss how to use the simulation technology to resolve the problems in process improvement,layout optimization,cycle time reduction,equipment utilization uplift,WIP and material decrease,MMR allocation,etc.Next,we introduce the simulation verification issues include functional checking and validity touching.In last,this paper also brings out some problems or future development for computer simulation,such as parallelism,mesh application and object orientated simulation technology.Application practice shows that computer simulation technology is feasible and effective to resolve the problems in semiconductor manufacture.It can make more easily to build the complex dynamic production system model,reduce the project development cycle,avoid unnecessary resource waste and increase the production efficiency and save the cost.
