Radio frequency identification(RFID),using radio waves to communicate,is an automatic identification technology which is widely used in various fields,such as chain management,access control security system and so on.Campus Card,one kind of fields that the RFID technology applies is used to manage various resources in campus efficiently such as library,canteens.It makes the school management effectively.The author designed a RFID development platform.The meaning of platform is: different applications relating to RFID can be designed by the platform,because the platform provides common hardware and software modules.This platform includes several interfaces such as Ethemet,USB,RS232,voice module and LCD.It also includes software development modules,such as module to operate contactless card,and has a RS232 command line similar as Linux Shell.It also provides communication interface with the host.All the resources of the platform can be accessed and controlled using network or USB.It can be customed to various applications.This article first introduces the theory about RFID,Ethernet and USB,and then describes how to design this platform.This is divided into two parts:software and hardware.The hardware design includes chip selection,the design of each hardware module.The software design includes the porting of TCP/IP stack,drivers of RFID,USB and other hardware module,porting of the embedded real-time operating system-FreeRTOS, and implement of the Shell.Finally build the platform on the base of work done.In order to prove the commonality of the platform,here is implemented two applications using the platform,one is a network library manager system,the other is a system which is used in public transport system.The only need to realize the two projects is just PC software development;the firware and hardware need not to be modified.This platform can be used to customed to realize other applications relating to RFID fields.
