Stamping die has got the extensive application in the mechanical and electrical products manufacturing industry. Whether the design is correct will bring about the key influence on the die's surface quality, dimensional accuracy, productivity and economic results. Stamping die's design is a systematic project. It's necessary to consult a large number of parameters, computing and accounting a lot of data, drawing a large number of graphics during the design process. The designer will feel time-consuming, extremely inefficient and make mistakes easily in the face of complex and lengthy design. Using the development of parametric graphics CAD system to support the stamping die design, designers can reduce the work intensity, shorten the design time and raise the design reliability.After analyzing and researching the technical elements and the basic requirements of the stamping die design, this paper chooses blanking die as objects of study, which is widely used. This paper also selects AutoCAD as supporting platform, ObjectARX 2005 and VC++.NET 2002 as development tools, Microsoft Access 2003 as database software, and develops a blanking die CAD system. The CAD system combines object-oriented programming techniques, database access technology and parametric technology. It also researches the key technologies in the development process, such as menu development, defining layer, color, line type and the ratio of line, initializing the environment, the storage of data and parameters, identify the outline of part drawing. This paper also realizes that the information of part drawing can be automatically read. The CAD system is able to automatically finish a series of works such as searching and quoting the process data, math and geometry calculation, the reference standards and norms, designing and modeling the structure and components after the devisors finish inputting or selecting parametric data according to the user interface's prompts.Examples show that the CAD system of blanking die can satisfy the design requirements and improve the efficiency greatly. The system is closely related to the production and has a great practical use.
