In the process of product design the computer is often used to create the solid model.Using available 3D Modeling software, the 3D objects can be formed by extruding, sweeping or revolving the 2D objects or combined by basic shapes with the Boolean method. It is complicated to do in this way. In order to simplify the solid-modeling process, the developing project of combination solid Modeling System Facing Design is introduced in the thesis aiming at the shortcomings of the 3D modeling software available. The following work has been done:1. A library of the parts for modeling 3Dsolid is established on the platform of AutoCAD.Besides the solids existed in AutoCAD many expanding solids are added. And a new parametric dialog box is built to set up combination solids.2. The Boolean methods are often used to form the solids in AutoCAD, which is abstract and complicated. By studying and expanding the assembling constraint of other 3D modeling software, a new combination solid Modeling System is put forward aiming at solving this problem.3. A typical combination solid library is established, in which many common solids are available. And in the process of 3D modeling all the saved solids can also be added to it. The user can take advantage of those ready-made solids conveniently.4. To simplify and speed up the 3D modeling process, a system of coding the basic objects and the composing method is established. Input the special codes, the corresponding solid can be obtained automatidally.Using the system based on the idea the user can form the 3D solids conveniently.
