With the AutoCAD functions continuously strengthened, the fields of its application are also increasing. AutoCAD now has been wildly used in machinery, construction, GIS, mining, land surveyous, highways, railways and other areas. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the basic theory and key technology of the AutoCAD both scientifically and practically. Graphics database, which is the core part of the CAD, has become the core issue during the secondary development. Now the widely-concerned issue for people is whether they can use the AutoCAD engineering graphics to make some statistical matrix calculation, for example make the statistical calculations or estimate the project budget in land surveyous, rail, construction system, etc. To solve this problem, various industries developed their application software which has a common feature that they are all using the various secondary development tools to develop the software. However,the weakness of this method is also obvious, it has long development cycle, very difficult to develop and has a specific requirement for the engineering graphics.Based on the problem mentioned above, the thesis brings forward a new solution. Firstly, translate the AutoCAD graphic data files into the SQL Server database. Secondly, use the powerful function of SQL Server to make the statistical calculation. This method can shorten the development cycle and as the common module has a widely application area for other development peojects. Using this approach, we can achieve the purpose of amending the graphics through modifying the value of the filed in SQL Server database. Meanwhile, using the database management, we can assure mutual drawing for consistency.Through the development tool of the ObjectARX and the development platform of Visual C++, we implement the system function. It includes the SQL Server database design, various types of data extraction, storage and re-drawing the graphics. It proves to be effective.Finally, after acquire the graphics data we have some discussions for the parameter design which is the current popular issue for AutoCAD. We give some idea for the parameter after comparing the advantages and disadvantages of some maturity parameter design methods.
