Book review in China has a long history and embrace all-inclusive field. In Chinese and foreign publications, the book reviews the significant location and more and more important. At the course of development of its once glorious time, it played an important role in guiding the reader, the publication of the direction and improvement of the publication of work. At present a lot of people think that the publishing industry should include the editing, printing, publishing, reviewing and reading, book review is the continuation and an integral part of the publishing work. This article then discusses the role of book reviews. In this paper, the second part of this article is the focus. It covers the gerenal situation and their great achievements of book review in the new period. Since reform and opening it plays the role on the following three aspects: adhering to the correct direction, cleaning up book market; overcoming homogenization phenomena, promoting innovation of the publication; reducing errors, improving the quality of editing and proofreading. Book review receives a great development in this period, its teams and positions expands, the number of book reviews increases, its quality improves, review enterprises ascends theorization, book reviews began to take shape as an special science, book review on-line begins to appear and continues to grow and develop. Finally, this paper points out the current problems and countermeasures of book reviews. Book review lacks a realistic style and discussion atmosphere. In view of foregoing problems, book reviews should adhere to the scientific attitude of seeking truth from facts; advocate different thought from more wise authors and promotes discussion atmosphere; build a high-level book review team.
