The editing and publishing study is a discipline name that is discussed and finally decided by the Ministry of Education in 1998 when they revised "The Discipline and Specialized Table of Recruitment and Train the Undergraduate Student for Bachelor's Degree". The intention of this matter is to combine edition study (including editing study, collating study, bibliography study and so on) and the publication study (including printing publication, distribution and so on) together. These actions widened the specialized direction and enriched the discipline class. In order editing and publishing study constitute an independent discipline system, in the higher education obtain full development. This is a positive constitutive adjustment which makes from the discipline construction aspect, since Chinese colleges and universities set up editing and publishing study in 1984.Discipline is the science of the whole structure of the overall system, which is different type and levels of sub-disciplines together constituted the subject chain. As the definite beau, intent and task of research are different. So the discipline divides into the relatively independent discipline class. In the Ministry of Education promulgated "The Discipline and Specialized Table of Recruitment and Train the Graduate Student for Doctor, Master's degree" in 1997, higher education discipline is divided 12 kinds in all. The different class also encompasses the relatively small and more special discipline system respectively. In brief, discipline system is the relatively independent knowledge system which constitutes by certain discipline chain, is the systematic classification and discipline description of the overall structure of scientific ecology.The editing and publishing study is the east disseminates study which is full of Chinese traditional culture characteristic and actually established by Chinese. In China, the editor study has rooted in the deep history, and the publication study also has developed for over a thousand years. The modern editor study and the modern publication study which has absorbed the new technology and new idea of the edition and publication in the process of western culture spreading have made great progress. At present, the editor study had the quite mature discipline system in our country, the publication study discipline system still in the process of construction. On the background of adjusting the subject catalogue, this paper points out that we should impersonally judge editing and publishing study, establish the status in the specialty education system, thereby promoting our editing and publishing education better development.
