A Study On Information Asymmetry In Editing And Publishing System

As a process of linear movement, editing and publishing system stimulates the results of editing and publishing to pass on the civilization of our human beings. And the activities of editing and publishing, as the information flow movement, turns the information in works into publications transmitted from disseminators to recipients.The theory of information asymmetric, a conception in economics, is the core theoretical view in the present information economics. According to the principles of Mass Communication, absence of information will occur during the transiting process from the source to the acceptors through transmission channel due to the existing of"noise"; furthermore, information possesses natures of asymmetry, concealment and hysteresis. Based on this, information asymmetry will inevitably occur in the information flow of editing and publishing system.Whether in the publication of production systems, or in the publication of sale systems, information asymmetry will certainly take place when information passes between publishers, editors, writers, marketers and readers. Analyzing the connotation of these five elements, defining the research perspective, summarizing the rule of the information campaign in the five elements and seeking the methods of reducing and balancing information asymmetric in the editing and publishing system, not only contribute to the theoretical research of the science of publishing communication, but also is the basic premise to uncover and understand the micro-mechanism and law of the spreading of publication information. The present study is conducted to investigate the information asymmetry in the editing and publishing system comprehensively. It is hoped that the investigation can not only contribute to the information processing in the editing and publishing system, but also enlighten the information flow movement of government system and social cultural system.
