The learning motivation of university students have be full studied recently.A number of operational suggestions on university education and management were provided for university teachers to excite and enhance students' learning motivation on information technology.However, most of these researches only considered the general learning motivation;quite few researches were focused on the learning motivation of some specific knowledge.The goal of the present research was to study the university students' learning motivation on information technology,The research took the method of theory analysis and the open-questionnaire surveys to explore the source of university students' learning motivation on information technology.The formal questionnaire was constructed based on the project analysis,exploratory factor analysis of the pre-test data and experts' opinions. Then some university students in Chongqing were tested by the questionnaire of 'The university students' learning motivation on information teleology'.1538 valid questionnaires were obtained. The exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the questionnaire had good reliability and validity.The students' differences on university,major,gender,grade and different living environment were also analyzed.The main results of this research are as follows:First,the learning motivation on information technology of university students was divided into five dimensions:the substantial motivation,the complied motivation,the cognitive motivation,the communicating motivation and the self-esteem motivation.And the substantial motivation and complied motivation were the main aspects of the learning information technology motivation.Second,the learning motivation on information technology of university students showed the general patterns as follows:students in the universities governed by the Ministry of Education showed stronger motivation than students in the general universities;Science students were stronger than liberal arts students;Rural students were stronger than urban students;,students' learning information technology motivation increased from freshman to junior year and decreased in senior year.Third,for every specific dimension the results showed that:(1) For the substantial motivation:Science students showed stronger substantial motivation than liberal arts students,which suggested that science and information technology had close links; rural students showed stronger substantial motivation than urban students,which proposed rural students had a stronger tend to change their living environment.(2) For complied motivation:Science students showed stronger complied motivation than liberal arts students,which revealed the different requirement of different professions on information technology;male students showed stronger complied motivation than female students,which reflected the gender differences;rural students showed stronger complied motivation than urban students,which was also related to the rural students' stronger tend to change living environment.(3) For the cognitive motivation:Science students and male students showed stronger cognitive motivation than liberal arts students and female students,which was similar to the result on complied motivation.(4) For communicating motivation:female students showed stronger communicating motivation than male students,which proposed female students needed more social interactions; rural students showed stronger communicating motivation than urban students,which suggested the rural students may try to adapted university life better through learning information technology.(5) For the self-esteem motivation:Science students showed stronger self-esteem motivation than liberal arts students,which also related to the closer links between science and information technology;rural students showed stronger self-esteem motivation than urban students,which suggested rural students had more needs on the self-esteem aspect.According to the results above,the present study provided several suggestions to activate and enhance the learning motivation on information technology of university students,which may served the university education and management.
