Because of the compactness, high integration, low insertion-loss, low cost and excellent performance, microring resonators are widely used in realizing integrated optics components. With the development of planar waveguide technology and micro-processing technology, the use of the microring resonators is becoming more and more widespread. In this thesis, we introduce the materials of microring resonators, the basic principle of microring resonators and the progress in microring resonators research at home and abroad. We also introduce the principle of controlling the velocity of light. The general relation of coupled optical power between microring resonators and the dielectric waveguide. We analyze the output spectra and dispersion spectra of the microring resonators with different structure. Especially we analyze the output characteristics of dual-ring structure in which gain is introduced in different regions. The results are compared with those of no gain no loss, and with loss. At last, we summarize the output characteristics of microring resonators with gain.
