With the development of modern optical communication, Integration on photonic circuits is one of the important region of all optical communications in the future. Microring resonator has been researched deeply by researchers at home and abroad for the functionality, selectivity of wavelength, compactness and possibility of integration. In this thesis, The non-linear effects in microring are analyzed and the schemes for all optical format covertion based on microring resonator are proposed. The dynamic characteristics of vertical coupled all-pass active microring resonator are studied, and the factors which affect the Group-delay are discussed. The main work are as following:(1) The basic structure and principle of microring resonator are introduced, The transmission characteristics of all-pass microring resonator are analysised by parameter model; the transmission characteristics of series-coupled three-microring resonators are studied by transmission matrixs. Subsection model and finite difference methods are proposed to analysis the dynamic characteristics.(2) The non-linear effects of microring resonator are analysised, especially on two signal inputting, and the situation that one signal used for pump signal and the other used for probe signal are discussed .(3) The scheme that used for format convertiong from NRZ to BPSK by three microring resonators are proposed, and the convert properties are simulated. The scheme which used for format convertion from NRZ to QPSK by four microring resonators are proposed, this scheme could work at the system of 40 Gbps.(4) Vertical coupled active microring section model are proposed, and the principle are Analysised by carrier ratio equation, coupled model theory and field transmission matrix. The effects of coupling gap and radius of microring, power and pulse-width of input pulse on the group-delay and pulse envelope have been analyzed. The effects of slow carrier recovery time of active waveguide on delay characteristics with multi-pulse injection have been discussed.
