Millimeter-wave planar slotted-waveguide arrays antennas of short range airborne missile are studied in this paper. The manufacturing error of antennas directly affects its electromagnetic performance. In order to fulfill the demanded precision in manufacture, the effect of the structural errors of the antenna parts on its performances is studied. In the paper, firstly, the structural and manufacture characterizations of the antenna are presented. Secondly, the theory of the antenna is introduced and the effect of the manufacturing error on electromagnetic performance is studied, especially, the effect of the error resulting from assembling and jointing the antenna. The boundary condition in manufacturing of the thick-wall parts is discussed and the factor leading the radiation plane deformed is analyzed in detail, and then the deformation of the antenna's parts is analyzed using the finite element software ANSYS. According to the simulation results, the factors affecting the manufacture precision is given. Finally, the distortion factors in the process of assemble and welding are analyzed, and the method of reducing the distortion is given.Based on the above study, the methods and parameters in the machining flow are analyzed and compared. Then the machining scheme is given and applied in the engineering. The results show that the scheme can be employed in the manufacture of millimeter wave antennas.
