In recent years, accompanied by the development of internet technology, as well as the spread of new technologies, such as digital cameras, DV, camera phones, the general public has begun to release news through mass media and personal communication device, this phenomenon is known as citizen journalism. From the beginning of the rise of citizen journalism, the phenomenon has aroused widespread concern in both the academic and industrial fields of journalism and Communication. This article will start with the concept of citizen journalism, and will explore the similarities to and differences from public journalism, also the reasons for the rise. The focus of this article is on the status quo and the existing problems in the development of citizen journalism, analyzing the disseminators, the content and the practice of citizen journalism, and based on the above analysis, a number of countermeasures are suggested. The full text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter, to clarify the background and the origin, summarize the previous research, present the ideas, methods of this study and the framework of the content.ChapterⅡ, to define the concept of citizen journalism, analyze the similarities to and differences from public information, and the cause of the rise of citizen journalism.ChaptersⅢandⅣ, from the perspectives of the communicators, the content and the practice of citizen journalism, to analyze the status quo and the problems in the development of citizen journalism, based on the analysis, some constructive ideas for dealing with the problems are formed.ChapterⅤ, once again, to rethink the existing problems in the development of citizen journalism, in conjunction with the analysis of the main part, pointing out the ideal development direction of citizen journalism in China.
