Virtual plant is an virtual reality applications in the field of agriculture,Virtual reality technology provides a new method for many areas of visualization research ,such as agriculture ,teaching ,and so on .It can simulate the growth and development of plant by virtual reality technology in the three-dimensional.And using visualized form can perform the laws of plant morphology. With the rapid progress of information technology developed, it has become a hot computer research in the field of one. Virtual plant growth of plants are at three-dimensional structure of the process of development and growth of the computer simulation , and it is more new area comparison with others .Recently ,the mean of virtual plant has a great breakthrough and development ,and now the most popular one is the way by L-System . And it has a deal of breakthrough in the areas of the means of modeling,achieve efficiency,space complexity and practical feasibility. At the same time , it also has some disadvantage , the way of virtual plant is inefficiency ,for example. So the author introduce the concept of substruction , and make it combine with L-System into the process of virtual plant .It optimize the means of virtual plant modeling.The author put forward the existing problems as well as the significance and the value of research in this paper on the basis of status quo of virtual reality technology. Then the paper introduces the basic methods and concepts of virtual plants, such as sub-structure and L system of the basic and principles. The main part of paper describes on virtual organ of citrus and citrus tree modeling method in detail , and makes Sub-structure and L system commonly into the process of growth of simulate citrus tree . On this basis, the paper adopt standard OpenGL graphics software interface and support for visual programming of the Integrated Development Environment VC + +6.0 ,and achieves a growth of simulation technology in the citrus in the process of the application of innovation . I hope that this article can bring some inspiration to other scholars.
