The trivalent Praseodymium ion (Pr3+) pocesses many visible emissions which are really important in our modern life such as display and medical applications. So the research on the trivalent Praseodymium ion is obviously significant. The Lithium-Yttrium-Fluoride (Pr:LiYF4or Pr:YLF) is a kind of laser crystal which has a low photon energy, can decrease the losses due to the fast nonradiative decay. In the absorption spectrum of the Pr3+, there is a reabsorption phenomenon near the orange band. For this phenomenon, most of the researchers were just mention and few of them developed it theoretically. Thus, the studies on this phenomenon are really necessary.First we outlined the progress of the Pr:YLF lasers and the ways of getting the orange lasers. Then we measured the absorption spectra and stimulated spectra. Based on the reabsorption, we proved why604.2nm lasers can’t be achieved in the room temperature. This is one of the innovations of this paper. We use a thin glass plate to act as a tuning element. Then we achieved604.2nm continuous-wave laser with the maximum output power of115mW. As far as we know, this is the highest output power at this wavelength. Finally the applications of visible lasers have been investigated. We designed a laser programme based on the Pr:YLF lasers. Firstly using the LD as the source of white laser, then we make a white laser module and measured the relative parameters. The next stage we will make the white laser by the Pr:YLF lasers. In this paper, we sucessfully make the white laser module and prepared for the later research.
