The ocean is an important treasure-house of energy and resource. China is a major maritime country. The social and economic development is depended on the ocean more and more. As a strategy of science and technology development, the"Digital Ocean"has been put into the"11th Five-year Plan"and the state ocean science and technology development project, by China government for the 21st Ocean Century. The"Digital Ocean"is proposed with the"Digital Earth". It is an information system composed of large ocean data with multi-resolutions and various types, and also many analysis algorithms and models.Grid technique has gradually become hot research in the computer field in recent years. Its purpose is to building dynamic virtual system in distributed, heterogeneous and autonomic grid resource environment. And in its internal autonomy to achieve cross-domain resource-sharing and resources-cooperation to effectively meet the complex application-oriented Internet on large-scale computing power and massive data-processing requirements. Grid has many advantages, so it is characterized as the third generation of the internet after traditional internet and the web.The work in this paper is an important part of the"863"Project ---"Study on Grid based on ocean environment data sharing and information service"(No. 2006AA09Z139). The following are the main works.1, Realized data sharing of the ocean environment informationIn this paper, based on analyzing the specialties of ocean environment information data, we realized a data sharing system, which realized a unified data access on the heterogeneous and distributed ocean environment data resources. And the data sharing system is constructed with GT4 (Globus Toolkit 4) and OGSA-DAI (Open Grid Service Architecture Data Access and Integration). 2, Based on Grid technology, realized data parallel visualization of the ocean environment informationIn this paper, grid platform implement parallel visualization of large-scale data sets by develops visualization service based on Globus Toolkit 4.0. Parallel visualization methods were applied to the grid platform, and large-scale of visualization mission was divided into a number of sub-mission which can be stand-alone deal with.
