With the fast development speed since the 1990s, the embedded technology has been applied in more and more departments. As a result, the embedded numerical control technology has been brought out when the embedded technology met with traditional numerical control technology. In the industries,Laser cutting is widely used from the early 1970s for its advantages of size cutting quality, speed, high precision and high efficiency.Based on this, the embedded CNC laser cutting technology become a new exploration in the application of laser cutting. In this thesis,an embedded CNC laser cutting system was built base on ARM and R8C.An explaination is placed at the beginning of this thesis, including the principle, development and characteristics of laser cutting. Then the principle, architecture and hardware components of embedded numerical control systems are expounded.Based on these theory,a system specific design is built from the hardware aspect and the software aspect. In the hardware department, some basic principle is put forward, including the struct of ARM S3C44B0 and R8C/17 and the characteristics of the implementing agencies and step motor control principle.then some specific design is built such as the serial communication,LCD display,Touch-screen design and step motor control. In the software department, the principles and characteristics of the embedded operating system UC/OS-II and UC/GUI is elaborated, then the software design of system function modules are described, including the the layout and the interface operation menu.At last,2 algorithms of laser cutting are studied, one is scanning back and forth algorithm, the other is the cutting path algorithm designed by the author.
