In the recent years, the development of intelligent equipment based on embedded system has been the main power of the application of microelectronic technology in the 21st century. However, in the home market, most of the researches on the development of embedded intelligent terminal focus on a specific application field or an appointed project. As for the main reasons, first of course is its own specificity of embedded system; second, the life cycle of embedded productions limits the study of its generality to some extent; third, the study of embedded intelligent terminal with higher adaptability that can overcome the above two problems is of high difficulty. While the production mode of embedded equipments that different boards are designed aiming at different projects not only increases the cost of the manpower resources, but also extends the developing periods. As the embedded system in a certain field always has the same functions and the similar hardware system, so establishing an embedded platform which has basic functions, satisfies the multipurpose feature, and has a great characteristic of extension absolutely can greatly reduce the cost and save time.With this purpose, the thesis aims to develop an embedded intelligent terminal core board system that has a good generality and extensibility and can provide many peripheral interfaces by using high performance ARM9 microprocessor and porting powerful WinCE operating system. In order to strengthen the generality and extensibility, this system uses the S3C2442A microprocessor with the frequency of 400MHz, which satisfies the demand of high-speed processing due to functional extension to a certain degree and accordingly can extend the life cycle of the system. What's more, the system uses Windows CE 5.0 Oprating System making the further development and the transplant of upper software more easily, and giving the driver method of BUS extending equipment to enhance the system's extensibility; On the other hand, as to the various purposes of application, the system takes some measures to design the multipurpose board and realize the feature of customizing and extending easily, e.g. providing two alternative display ways :LCD or VGA, giving 4 USB Hosts by using a USB Hub, and offering some plug-in modules. This is the shining point of my thesis.The thesis first briefly introduces the project background, the research purpose and significance, and status QUO at home and abroad. Second, it analyzes the relevant technologies in embedded system to lay a strong theoretical foundation for the further study. Third, the thesis deeply explores how to build up the whole platform, inlcuding the building of hardware platform, the transplant of operating system and the drivers' development. What's more, it emphasizes the analysis of the system's main functions and their realization. And the testing method as well as its procedure and its result of the system are presented. Finaly the thesis summarizes the whole work of the project and points out some aspects the system needs to prefect.
