Typhoon is a strongly destructive and disastrous weather, and China is one of the most typhoon-stricken countries. The important measure to mitigate the damage of typhoon is to strengthen the monitoring and prediction of typhoon. With the development of science and technology, with the improvement of the typhoon study and data obtaining, efficient management is called to apply to typhoon data.WebGIS, the combination of GIS and Internet technology, is an important item in geographic information system, not only with the function of GIS data management and space analysis, but also with the specialty of function of information publishing and data sharing, which provides a benign platform for the typhoon information publishing and data sharing. This thesis studies the application of WebGIS to serve for typhoon information system.This thesis firstly studies the features of WebGIS and the present situation of its application in the field of typhoon study. Based on the features of present typhoon Web system, this following parts of the thesis discuss the development tendency of WebGIS within the frame of Web2.0 technology, analyze the features of ArcGISServer platform, design a typhoon information system based on Web2.0 and ArcGISServer, and make a careful design for the data organization of the system and the functions of the system.Although WebGIS greatly improves space information maintenance, publishing and searching, the traditional WebGIS still faces many problems, like slow responding and weak service. Ajax, the core technology of Web2.0, is the most effective technology of client, which can asynchronize the operating of clients and responding of servers, so as to shorten the responding time between clients and the server. This thesis studies how to combine the technology of Ajax and WebGIS, to less amount of internet data transmission, and to make the interaction of WebGIS system better. Meanwhile, this thesis puts forward different methods of path adding and display based on different layers. The last part of the thesis is the conclusion for the whole thesis and the prospect for the typhoon study. This thesis achieves the main functions of typhoon information system, while it still needs further study in geographic space data analysis.
