Nowadays,the vehicle driving safety is one subject of the world researches;the poor illumination during driving at night,which causes the high traffic accident rate, is the important reason.The literature statistics revealed that the number of heavy traffic accident at night is 1.5 times for daytime's number approximately;more than 60%accidents occur at curve place,which has poor illumination.At present,the traditional headlight has its certain limitation.In order to improve the automobile illumination condition,the Advanced Front-lighting System(AFS) has been researched during the recent years,the objective is to provide the driver with the best possible visibility by varying lighting distribution which adapts to the changes of the vehicles and the external environment(for example vehicle speed,curve,slope and weather condition).For shortening the development circle and reducing the repeated real object experiments,Hardware-In-the-Loop(HIL) technology is widely used today.Based on the Advanced Front-lighting's domestic and overseas present research status and Hardware-In-the- Loop's characters,this paper analyzed traditional headlight's defect nowadays in some conditions such as the vehicle body posture changes,speed changes and different kind of curve.The Advanced Front-lighting will adopt some control strategy to improve driving safety.For confirming the feasibility of the advanced headlight's algorithm and the performance of the software and hardware,the Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation for AFS based on Driving Simulator was researched and developed,which has the function of the Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation for AFS.The important content in this paper are expounded as follow:(1) To build hardware plat of testing system such as xPC target real time simulation system,the driving signal acquisition circuit,headlight ECU to drive headlight turning.(2) To build automotive dynamics model(such as 7-DOF vehicle suspension system model,road model,the vehicle curve model and the vehicle speed model) by MATLAB/Simulink;combining automotive model and driving simulator's hardware signal,testing system would simulate some information such as speed,front wheel angle according to operation action on the driving simulator.Some light data are simulated based on the light control model(3) Some automotive dynamics offline simulation and the Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation for AFS are to do.Some data and curve such as speed,pitching,front wheel angle,the expecting angle of the light and the actual angle of the light are to show in monitoring Program which is easy to research control strategy of AFSWith a series of simulation testing,the conclusion is indicated that this system has the good function of the Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation for AFS,it can be to confirm and evaluation the feasibility of Advanced Front-lighting's control algorithm and the performance of the software and hardware,to reduce the repeated real object experiment and danger,which is lay the foundation for calibration and test of AFS.
