As a simulation equipment which can provide correct driving response and feeling as well as real driving vehicle, the vehicle driving simulator has some advantages, such as high efficiency in training, safety, few limiting factors and low in cost. It has a wide range of applications in Vehicle driving training and simulation of development in auto companies. A fully functional vehicle driving simulator contains simulated cockpit, scene simulation system, operation control system, sound system, and so on. The effect of the scene system has a large extent influence in fidelity and real-time of the driving simulation. Therefore, the research on the key technology has a very important practical significance.Based on the review of domestic and international research and application of the vehicle driving simulator and scene simulation system, this thesis had theoretical analysis and experimental research on scene simulation technology of vehicle driving simulator, put emphasis in scenario modeling technology and real-time driven and rendering technology.In the first chapter, background and significance of the research was described. Domestic and international research and applications of the vehicle driving simulator and scene simulation system were analyzed. Finally, main research contents of thesis were presented.In the second chapter, Framework of scene system of vehicle driving simulator was discussed, containing two parts of the hardware and software systems. After analyzing needs of the scene system, scenario modeling software and real-time driven software were selected.In the third chapter, Framework of 3D scene modeling was analyzed. After analyzing terrain generation technology, the random midpoint displacement method based on fractal theory was used to generate terrain. And the random variable function was modified to solve gauffer of terrain and control the terrain more conveniently. Experiments were given to research the influence to terrain by parameter of iterative times and 'H'. Finally, key technologies of the scene object modeling were analyzed and applied.In the fourth chapter, real-time driven and rendering system of vehicle driving simulator was analyzed. Collision detection method based on bounding box and Tripod was established for the vehicle driving. Weather effects model based on particle system was established and a real-time control model of rainfall was created.In the fifth chapter, scene simulation system was achieved. Application simulation program flow was established and integration of the 3D scene model was achieved. Collision detection for vehicle driving and rainfall effects were achieved. Finally, effect of rainfall based on particle system was simulated, and the impact on real-time performance of scene system by parameters of rainfall particles was analyzed.In the sixth chapter, the research work was summarized, and the possible research in future is presented.
