In the traditional radar system, the radar signal processing,the data processing and the information display are all realized through the hardware. Although the processing speed is high enough to satisfy the radar system's timely requirement, the versatility is not ideal, and the radar's parameters and function requirements are different as different models, then the hardware and software must be developed specially correspondingly. Also the working way of hardware is flexible insufficiently, the cycle of development is too long and the cost is too high. In recent years, with the promotion of handling ability and performance of computer, and the rapid development of the Multi-Core/Multi-threading technology and the graphics hardware technology, using the software to realize radar information processing and demonstration through the general computer has become possible. Using the general computer formidable data-handling capacity and the nimble graph processing mode, can realize real-time radar information processing and the multiform demonstration. And the versatility is better, easy to maintain and expansion, reduce the cycle of development, besides save the cost simultaneously.Based on the practical requirements and directions of developments for coast alarm radar, this paper designs and implements a system based on general computer, which can deal with radar data transmitting under high speed, information real-time processing and target and comprehensive information display, radar states controlling and human interface communication. In this paper, the system requirements and general case design are made firstly and system structure and the function division of software module is demonstrated. Then the system software design process and software module are accomplished. The implementation method of coordinate transform, data process speed, data interface, variety display, control layer design and picture switch are talked about in detail. Besides, C++ language is used to implement the system software and Multi-threading, Direct3D, Intel IPP function library are used sufficiently under Visual studio 2005. Finally,by using gathered radar signal data in trial, the main performance of this system is tested, which demonstrate that this system can work well in 5MHz signal band, 20MB/s data stream with a full range of 300km, a tiptop refresh rate of 4 second. According to the test, this system has a high stability and can meet the practical requirement with a high value in project.
