| Radar Data Processing sub-systems play very important roles in VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) Systems. As the key technology of RDP system, the transmission, record and display of radar video information mainly compress, restore and transmit the video information carrying object data received from Radar Receiver in order to display and indicate the existence, coordinate data and movement data of objects.Considering the practical needs and present developing trends of VTS, a transmission and display system of radar raw video in terminal is proposed in this thesis. Firstly, based on the newly FPGA and DSP chips, merging the relative digital signal processing theories in the new theory of digital technology and computer technology, the raw radar video signal can be digitally captured, displayed and restored by software. Secondly, some algorithm suited for image compression are discussed and realized in the thesis. The whole design can provide methods for further research based on object detection, character extraction and pattern recognition to satisfy the universal and expansibility requirement.In display parts of the above-mentioned system, one key technology of the digital of radar video image has been solved. After A/D conversion and clutter suppression pretreatment, the radar analog data can be converted from polar coordinates to orthogonal coordinates and displayed in real time. Further, the image can achieve higher resolution and display speed in host. For more effective restore and transmission, the methods suited for the radar video image compression are discussed in detail. At last, Experiments on real radar images compression show that after compression the radar image satisfied narrowband transmission requirement. A final conclusion is given that the compression has practical worth.
