The urban traffic on-line management of Intelligent Transportation System is realized by traffic control and guidance coordination system which consists of traffic control system, traffic guidance system and traffic coordination system. After the establishment of traffic control and guidance system in labs, the operating test of each system as well as verification of the optimized methods are essential. Because both traffic control system and traffic guidance system are confronted to the whole urban traffic network, the construction of equipments on a massive scale will be costly and highly risky. All of these are not allowed in test stage and unavailable in labs. Therefore, a simulation platform oriented to traffic control and guidance coordination system, which can simulate and test the real traffic control, guidance and coordination system in labs, is indispensable. The simulation platform will provide the foundation of system developing and testing. The experimental cost will be reduced and the success rate of system construction will be promoted.Starting from the analysis of traffic control and guidance coordination system, hierarchy structure of urban traffic control system and vehicle route guidance system and the relationship on each hierarch are discussed. The coordination modes in the coordination system are analyzed. Moreover, a relatively good design of traffic control and guidance coordination system is given, after the introduction of current traffic control and guidance equipments.The simulation platform oriented to traffic control and guidance coordination system consists of the simulation units of traffic control and guidance equipment and traffic flow. The former is the simulation of traffic flow detectors, signal lights, cross lights controller, guidance information display and on-vehicle guidance equipment. The latter is the simulation with interface of simulation unit of traffic control and guidance equipments based on traffic cell automata models, which mainly includes: the design of the rules of vehicle driving on road and in cross, the design of vehicle moving rules, as well as the generation of vehicles and networks, etc. On the basis of the design of this dissertation, the simulation software is developed on Visual C++, and a satisfied result is obtained.Control system, guidance system, coordination system and simulation platform co-exist in the LAN, and the simulation purpose of testing and validating the equipments and algorithm is achieved. The work mechanism and operation mode of virtual and real system are discussed. And the feasibility of the modes is proved by the experiment.
