At present, the problem of traffic congestion has a serious impact on people's daily life, work and study. In order to effectively resolve this problem, improve the vehicle's speed, reduce accidents, save energy and achieve a two-goal win between transportation network and traveler satisfaction, it is necessary to make a scientific analysis of the current traffic conditions and find a reasonable and effective solution.Traffic Flow Guidance System is a very important part of Intelligent Transport System. It has remarkable effect and wide application prospect in the aspects of intelligent management of urban traffic and implementation of humanity guidance of resident travel. Traffic flow guidance system has been paid more and more attention, and the research of related areas is increasingly abundant. In this paper, through learning the traffic flow guidance theory and predictive control theory, the algorithms of predictive control of traffic flow guidance have been established, and some conclusions are drawn from the study. The main contents and achievements of this paper are as follows:1. The research has been undertaken about traffic flow characteristics, speed prediction model, traffic network model, predictive control theory and the mechanism of predictive control of traffic flow guidance.2. The research has been undertaken about the related fields such as genetic algorithm, web services, grid computing and so on. The predictive control theory has been introduced to the traffic flow guidance, and the algorithm of traffic flow guidance has been developed based on predictive control and considering the characteristic parameters of traffic flow. The algorithm of predictive control of traffic flow guidance is described in detail. The simulation is undertaken in Visual Studio2005development environment. The simulation results show that it has a good effect on the resolution of traffic congestion.3. Because of the large quantity of data, the single computer algorithm would take a long time in the calculation process, so grid computing based on web service technology has been used, which realizes the parallel multi-machine computing of the predictive control of traffic flow guidance. The simulation has been undertaken with respect to two control algorithms, i.e. the centralized control and distributed control modes. The simulation results show that the distributed control algorithm evolves faster and better compared with those of single computer algorithm and centralized control one, which benefits the real-time traffic-flow guidance.Predictive control is a good control philosophy and methodology. For the traffic-flow huge-scale system which is random and time-varying, the predictive control of traffic flow's guidance is a global optimum control method, which considers the impacts of current dynamic traffic assignment on the future road traffic conditions, so it can effectively prevent from traffic congestion. The favorable performance of predictive control of traffic flow guidance can play an active role in alleviating traffic jams.
