With the development of database technology, information source is heterogenous which exists in every vocation information management system which causing a lot of single information-island. But network platform is commonly used now, integrating data in heterogeneous databases effectively to share and process data better is essential. Grid technology is considered as the third wave of the Internet, it is characterized as geographic distribution, logically heterogeneous, resources dynamically and grid-node autonomy on the main characteristics which perfectly meet the needs of resource-sharing. So using grid to solve heterogeneous databases integration has become an important research topic.Firstly, the technologies are introduced in Grid Database Integration, such as XML technology, Web services and the grid technology. Globus Toolkit, OGSA-DAI architecture and its services are researched, Meanwhile the study and analysis of the OGSA-DAI middleware limitations are included; Secondly, this thesis design a grid-based database integration system, study key problems of the system ,the database connection is improved at the bottom ,the method of releasing database is proposed, then users can send out the databases which are packaged as service. In addition, this system provid a single database query, metadata access services via standardized net interface, and realizes integration within relational database ,between the XML database and relational database through XML format, multi-database query model is proposed; Finally the method of building grid is introduced, system is tested in laboratory LAN environment, the results are given .
