Accidents of coal mine, in particular that of gas explosion have happened continuously in China in recent years. Only in 2003, tens of coal mine gas explosion accidents happened, each of which took over 10 people's life. The quality of coal mine safety monitoring system is vital for guaranteeing regular production and the life safety of coal miners. Safety monitoring is a major measure for preventing accident as well as an important symbol of modern mine management. Therefore, it is of great importance to develop a coal mine safety monitoring system.The article depicts a complete coal mine safety monitoring system that is designed and developed through the application of advanced computer technologies. The system applies PC/104 architecture and VxWorks O/S. The onsite cybertron of collector and the monitoring realize distributed collection and remote monitoring via optical fiber communication. With the early warning, alarming and emergency treatment of hierarchical alarm mechanism on emergency situation, it has greatly improved the safety factor of coal production.The article analyzes the requirements of coal mine monitoring system, compares and discusses main technologies and operating systems etc. involved in the safety system from software and hardware. Then, on such basis, the article provides the solution for the whole system, hardware platform, and software system. Moreover, the article also discusses in detail key technologies including BSP reduction and development, driver design and task design.
