The Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System is an important component of information science in the field of Water Conservancy. It is a modern technique of real-time collection, hydrologic information transmission and analysis, and it is an effective way to forecast and control the flood in river basins and reservoirs and make rational use of water resource. It is the direction of modern hydrology development.In this dissertation, the Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System is summarized on the basis of the existing research results. This dissertation introduces various communication modes of Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System, and presents the advantages and disadvantages of modes, e.g. PSTN, VHF, satellite communication, in the aspects of communication quality, adaptation condition, covering scope, geographic environment,construction and working cost, real time quality,etc.In recent years, with the development of GPRS and its commercial application, it is observed the possibility of applying CPRS in the Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System. In order to meet the need of the Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System communication, this dissertation puts forward a GPRS based system which finds a new solution in transmitting hydrologic data through GPRS network。This dissertation is a full study of the application of GPRS in Hydrologic Tele-metering System. Firstly it introduces the network structure and features of GPRS, the function modules of the GPRS and their relationships. Secondly, by summarizing GPRS-related communication portal, the port protocol of GPRS network and outlet network is obtained. Thirdly, this dissertation analyzes the the communication protocol of GPRS network and Internet, and the actualization of network communication. Finally, the general theme of this dissertation is brought forward.This dissertation studies the realization of TCP/IP and PPP portal, analyzes the telnet of GPRS DTU in the network, puts forward the technical difficulties and requirements when establishing GPRS-based Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System, summarizes several network of GPRS applied Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System, and finally ascertains the technique direction of the research. Meanwhile, this dissertation also analyzes the rationality of establishing the Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System and presents the means of realization.At the same time, this dissertation also studies the SIMENS mc35i module, analyzes the AT command for mc35i, and tests MC35i, which will become the groundwork of massive application followed. By doing experiments, it is evident that the applying GPRS in the Automatic Hydrologic Tele-metering System is a feasible means.
