Study On Knowledage Gap Hypothesis And Differences Of Knowledage Possession

This papers prove that : The Knowledge Possession is decided by the breadth and depth of Social interaction , the breadth and depth of the spirit learning , gift .The definition of Knowledge should be expansed , The impact of interpersonal communication and organization communication should be attention . That's the right way to study Knowledge Possession .Based on this , the author reconstruct the "Knowledge Gap" hypothesis : Following the social progress , The Information Resources would be more and more . Those who have more social interaction and spirit learning,better gift , could be get more information resources . So the difference of knowledge possession would be growing .If improved the breadth and depth of Social interaction,the breadth and depth of the spirit of learning , the gap of knowledge possession in most field could be filled . At first , we make a literature review . There are three views on the field .The hypothesis as originally formulated by Tichenor , et al. holds that"as the infusion of mass media information into a social system increases , segments of the population with higher socioeconomic status tend to acquire this information at a faster rate than the lower status segments , so that the gap in knowledge between these segment tends to increase rather than decrease ."J.S.Ettema have another opinion : as the infusion of mass media information into a social system increases , those ones who have more motivations tend to acquire this information are at a faster rate than the others . So that the knowledge gap between these people tends to increase rather than decrease .E.M.Rogers believe that this gap also exits in people's attitude and behavior . The knowledge gap isn't just due to the mass communication but the interpersonal communication . At last ,he think the SES isn't the only reason of knowledge gap . Ding Wei is a china scholar , she's study is more remarkable.Then , we discussion the reason of knowledge possession difference from three side : gift , interpersonal communication and organization communication .We discuss the features of human congnitive system and Reconstruction system of human knowledge , then we found : The affecting factors of knowledge possession difference in the every process : cognitive,save,extraction,apply and feedback . Every difference may impact the knowledge possession . On interpersonal communication , we proof that the interpersonal is the important way to get knowledge . the breadth and depth of Social interaction is one of the most important indicators . The SES is just it's representation .On organization communication , from the analysis of classical studies and an empirical study , we found : Education is a key factor on knowledge possession ., can't equivalent to SES .To sum up , come to the conclusion ,and then make a further explore about its practical significance and questions what need further study.
