With the theme of“the image of Henan people”,this thesis firstly introduces the status of background,significance,purpose of the research and then analyzes the feasibility.Henan provides a large number of surplus labors annually as a populous province,and it can be said that there are Henan people in every city of China.However,most people will think Henan people are poor and good at swindling instead of hard-working and sincere.As a result,an increasing number of experts and scholars from different fields begin to pay attention to and discuss the image of Henan people.This thesis summarizes the image of Henan people in mass communication and interpersonal communication,and then find out their similarities and differences and clear off their relations.It is not hard to see that it is often negative when the image of Henan people appears in the public.There are a lot of negative reports of Henan,and the description and image-building of Henan people in films and television programs are also negative.It is common in daily life that Henan people are defamed and taunted.This thesis analyzes the cognitive process of the public to Henan people based on Communication Studies:the agenda setting of medium has caused the target readers' discussion for Henan people,and the image of Henan people has become stereotype through mass communication;the "silent spiral" also affects the awareness of the target readers.This thesis concludes the influences of the image of Henan people in interpersonal communication by mass media.Because of the orientation of mass media during shaping of the image of Henan people,the image of Henan people has been distorted and uglified and the public's prejudice for Henan people is further intensified by mass communication.The author finally puts forward solutions for the problems and points out that the media and the audience should regard Henan people rationally and objectively.What's important is the improvement of the damaged image of Henan people relies on the endeavors of themselves.
